TSA_Seattle
First time Max had to do the scanner at the airport. All went well. Of course anxiety was high for being picked out for a pat down, but all went well. Coming out from Phoenix, even though they were scanning everyone, they let him go through without getting scanned or patted down. Still think there needs to be training for the agents on how to handle people that might not be the gender in which they appear. Yelling out "male" or "female" agent for the world to hear isn't cool.

This kind of happened to me as well. Because the airport security line was sparse everyone, everyone was being patted down. So my (male) friend went through and got directed to the left, my (girl)friend went through and got redirected to the right, and I went through, the guard started for a while, and decided it was easier to just let me go. I guess an androgynous appearance gives you a free pass from being a terrorist.

ReplyDeleteMich,
ReplyDeleteJust so you know. If you were to get patted down, you can request an agent of any gender you feel more comfortable, not the gender in which you were born. Hoping though TSA gets up to speed with education about this subject.
